Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 17: In a bid to make youth aware of drugs abuse and its effects on life, a socio-political organisation Team Jammu will be holding a mega anti-drugs rally on November 28 here. Team Jammu an amalgam of members of civil society comprising lawyers, doctors, journalists, students, educationists and academicians sensing that the future of youth in Jammu region may get spoiled as they are becoming drug addicts, joined hands to curb the menace. "It is a group working in the interest and welfare of Jammu people, who have been always subject to discrimination by politicians and vested interests to appease Kashmiris since decades, a member of the team said. He said a full-fledged survey was being conducted for the last 10 months and it came to fore that despite being highly educated and qualified, youth of Jammu are falling prey to drug addiction as there are hardly any job avenues and employment schemes generated by the govt. "The survey has revealed shocking facts that import of drugs like heroin, charas, ganja, intoxicant capsules are being pumped into the winter capital by the drug mafia, which remains unchecked and being supplied among the youth, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, chairman of Team Jammu told. He said that not only the boys but even the girls are trapped by this menace, which is astonishing, adding, "the unfortunate part is that neither the government nor any political party raised voice against this death trap, which is slowly engulfing the youth and damaging the young minds, who can be utilised in the development and progress of the country and the state as well. The rally will be held on November 28, which will cover each and every market and bazar of City of Temples inviting people to unite for a cause and their better tomorrow. |
