Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 17 : Giving a damn to the Right to Information (RTI) Act, the Directorate of School Education has not furnished information about the department,. The said information was sought twice.
Sources told Early Times that the Directorate School Education Jammu failed to respond positively in a case of RTI application sent to the directorate to seek information about the date of establishment of education zones falling under Jammu and Samba districts only.
"There are total 21 education zones in both districts wherein Jammu district comprised of 16 education zones while Samba district has just five zones and the information was sought about the date of the establishment of these 21 education zones in these districts, they said.
They story of the apathetic attitude of the Directorate School Education Jammu started nearly seven months ago when first RTI application was sent on March 27, 2015 seeking information about the date of establishment of the Zonal Education Offices but the much to the dismay no information received from DSE.
"However, Chief Education Officer Jammu sent little information leaving the important content in it, but on the contrary Chief Education Officer Samba didn't reply which left the seeker dejected. Later the same RTI was sent to Commissioner Secretary School Education for the information of the establishment of ZEOs on July 16, 2015 but the it also met with the same fate as the Office of Commissioner secretary directed the DSE and it further directed the CEO Jammu and Samba but this time also no information was received from CEO Samba, however CEO Jammu sent information of only five ZEOs out of sixteen till date, they added.
Violating the norms of the RTI Act 2009, DSE did not take cognizance of the matter for defiance of the CEO Jammu and Samba for not providing the relevant information to the seeker.
"How one can get benefit of RTI when timely information is not received by the concerned department," alleged sources.
