JAMMU, Nov 17 : Two time champion, University of Jammu (JU) today made a confident start in the All India Vice Chancellors Twenty20 Cup Cricket Tournament hosted by Deen Dayal Upadyaya (DDU) University Gorkhpur when they defeated University of Pune by a big margin of 76 runs. As per the reports reaching here, JU set a target of 162 runs, which, in reply, Pune could not chase and was bowled out for 85 runs to lose the game. Vishal Sudan remained top scorer with 41 runs while Sumit Sharma, Raj Kumar and Akash Bhola contributed 32, 22 and 17 runs respectively. Skipper, Daud Baba contributed 14 runs to the total. From Pune University, Nitin, Vinod and Santosh were successful bowlers, who shared one wicket each. In reply, Pune batsmen could not face the tight bowling from JU and the whole side bowled out for 85 runs. From JU, Rajesh Kumar was pick of the bowlers, who claimed three while Raj Kumar and Pawan Singh shared two each. For his three-wicket haul, Rajesh of JU was named man of the match. Now, in their second outing, JU is scheduled to take on Chandigarh University on November 20. Meanwhile, manager of the team, Sunil Sahi appreciated the team for the fine performance. |
