JAMMU, Jan 24 : After 1945, the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed season's coldest night ever, with record breaking minimum temperature settling at 0.5 degree Celsius, which was reportedly never recorded in the history."Last night, 0.5 Degree Celsius was season's minimum temperature ever recorded in the history," Sonam Lotus, Director of the Indian Meteorology Department here said. Dr Lotus said as per the records, in 1945, the minimum temperature was recorded T 0.6 degrees and in 2001, it was 0.8 degrees. "We have never recorded this much of minimum temperature, but it is going to improve from tomorrow," he said, adding that the minimum temperature will start rising in a couple of days and the weather will also improve. "Western disturbance is likely to hit by month ending and fresh spell of showers to hit Jammu region on January 29", said the Weatherman. "Earlier the minimum temperature in the winter capital was fluctuating between 3.5 Degree Celsius to 4.0 Degree Celsius but last night was season's coldest with minimum temperature recorded 0.5 Degree Celsius and maximum 11.1 Degree Celsius", he asserted. He said that earlier the coldest night was recorded yesterday with minimum temperature 2.2 degree Celsius, 3.6 degree Celsius on January 18 and 3.8 degree Celsius on December 24 last year.
