Land sliding creates panic in Hajin area
Flood & irrigation Deptt act as mute spectator

BANDIPORA, Jan 24: Fresh land sliding has created panic among the residents of Hajin area in Bandipora district of north Kashmir, while as the concerned department of flood and irrigation was watching all this unfortunate incidents like mute spectators.
According to sources the breaches expanded due to because of non availability of embankment in Banger and Sheikh Mohallas of Hajin area on Sunday morning thus resulted to evacuate the residents to flee towards the safer areas.
This morning main road in Hajin area has slid again sparking protests by the general public against the concerned authorities of flood and irrigation, and this follows the slides of Friday morning, when two kilometer road caved in along the river Jhelum, sources told early times.
It is learnt from sources that, the concerned authorities have asked the nearby residents of Banger Mohalla and Sheikhpora locality to move to safer places till they temporarily repair the damaged road and erect sand bags to stop further slides.
Sources further said that 33000 electric lines are snapped in their area, where almost three hundred household have been put in darkness, which have led to resentment among masses against the concerned authorities.
Locals said that the landslide in the road has disconnected the area from rest of the town and has created fear among the general public.
Basically a patch of road around 100 metre of length breached at various places along the river bank in Banger Mohalla thus putting the surrounding area in danger.
Eyewitness said that hundreds of men and women came on roads and held a protest demonstration against the administration this morning alleging that protection of bund on the Nullah which suffered damages.
However, a senior official of the Flood Control department said there is no need to panic as we have keept sand bags ready for temporarily embankment till we will find the permanent way out.
We have kept hundreds of sand bags ready as temporary arrangements and have asked the residents to shift to safer place for some time, till some permanent arrangements will be made, said official.
Pertinently the breaches in the embankment in Banger and Sheikh Mohallas were found on Friday morning have had indicated the residents to shift some safer places at the earliest.
