Awareness programme to protect right of senior citizens held | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Jan 24: District Legal Services Authority Kathua organized awareness programmes at Old Age Home Kathua regarding protection of rights of senior citizens. The programme was held under supervision of chairmam District Legal Services Authority Sanjay Dhar. On the occasion the retainers lawyers Advocate Ajat Shatru Sharma, Advocate Deepak Sharma, Advocate Sunita Devi and Advocate Devinder Singh participated in the program. Adv. Ajat Shatru Sharma while addressing said that senior citizens are the part & parcel of our civil society. The senior citizens of the country and all other old age persons must be considered as our national property like our country's children and always needed a special care, protection and love. He also stressed upon the State Govt. of Jammu & Kashmir for the early implementation of the Jammu and Kashmir Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2014 in letter and spirit so that elderly peoples of our state can be benefitted by the said Act at par with other elderly people of rest of India. Adv. Sunita Devi also explained the various schemes and procedures for the old age persons. Many Old age home inmates present in the program also highlighted their problem about difficulties in getting Aadhaar card and some old age pension related issues. |
