Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 19: The Modi government has apparently decided to not "repeat mistakes" made when late Mufti Sayeed was the chief minister. The BJP has not only decided to give full support to the CM Mehbooba Mufti but also wants to be seen as partner in addressing the problems in the Kashmir.
PM Narendra Modi in full public view praised Mehbooba Mufti saying she is not only energetic but even at the dais she is talking to me about the development projects. The PM Modi also said Centre would give full support to the State.
It was a marked departure from his last year's rally at Srinagar which didn't turn out to be as was expected. The PM then had openly said that he doesn't need advice of anyone on the Kashmir. The statement was made just after Mufti Sayeed had talked about some measures on the Kashmir. It was seen as public rebuff of Mufti Sayeed and after that two parties drifted much.
Modi has apparently undid that today by publicly praising Mehbooba Mufti. It is probably for the first time that a chief minister of the state has been publicly praised by the PM. Omar Abdullah was not praised by the then PM Manmohan Singh.
Modi wants to ensure that the government lasts its full term. It was because of this reason that he had agreed to the most of the demands of Mehbooba and also decided against plan of splitting the PDP to form a government without Mehbooba Mufti, which was strongly rumored.
Sources said that PM wanted to send the message that he stands with the CM to silences voices of dissent in her party which will also send the signal that if the people hoping to form the government by splitting the PDP should forget about it and rather stand with Mehbooba Mufti.
