Early Times Report
Srinagar, Apr 23: Terming his conviction by the Muslim Wakf Board for allegedly making sexual advances on a female cop a "ploy", the accused Imam Saturday said he would move Court to file a defamation case against the Wakf authorities. Reacting to the 9-nine page charge sheet prepared by Wakf Board, the Imam said the Inquiry Committee probing the allegations was "biased" and that he was "framed in baseless charges, in a one sided and concocted story." "The committee was biased since day one and wanted my character assassination that's why they framed baseless charges. Some elements were jealous of my popularity and integrity," the Imam told Early Times. He said there was no "video evidence against him and that the audio clip" produced before the so called inquiry committee was doctored. "I reject the baseless inquiry committee report and will fight it in the court of law to expose the rot in the system there," the Iman added. He said he has not been removed from services of Imam but that he voluntarily opted to abstain from services till the case is decided. |
