Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 23:Finding that no political gimmick helped National Conference to prevent PDP from forming government with BJP has set into motion the demand for revocation of Armed Forces Special powers Act (AFSPA) by NC stalwart with half hearted attempt to woo the workers feigning ignorance about the ground realities in which the state is passing through presently.
The political analysts well acquainted with the vacillating propensities of few so called well meaning politicians of the state, observe that the utterances of Farooq Abdullah parroting the demand directly pertaining to security agencies are manifestation of his disgruntled feelings presently haunting him hard being out of the corridors of power which certain people feel to be their birth right, but do not realize that in democratic set up, the change represents healthy signs for grown up democracy. They further observe that the Government has put in place a verg well organised mechanism in the system specifically meant to keep constant track on the security scenario of the State, but one wonders to learn Farooq Abdullah raising the boggy of eliminating AFSPA from the state while addressing his workers in Anantnag district which divulges his state of hallow mind devoid of some other important issues largely confronting people of J&K state needing priority who have nothing to do with revocation of AFSPA or otherwise further they said, adding that the matter relating to security should be solely left on security agencies desisting from poking one's nose unnecessarily as he has no decisive role to play on this front.
Keen watchers of situation changing from time to time in the valley state that recent spurt of clashes between youth and securities forces in some parts of valley and also little upward trend of militant activities are suggestive of retaining powers granted to security forces under AFSPA for continuing ruthless fight against terrorism sponsored from across the border and openly supported by anti national elements existing the state with impunity. They further observe that if mature politicians like Farooq really feel and understand what he is demanding at a crucial juncture when concerted efforts of the Army and other security forces are still required to crush growing voices roaring in valley at the instance of separatists and other allied forces pernicious to the general interests and overall development of the State for which the popular govt headed by Mehbooba Mufti is sincerely striving for, he must first come forward alongwith his like minded politicians and voluntarily shun their security cover he is availing and if not, then why he is clamouring for a demand which is totally unjustified and fraught with political angle just to hoodwink the gullible people whom Farooq Abdullah is taking for granted mistakingly now mature enough to understand political jugglery.
