Early Times Report RAMBAN, Apr 23: To conclude the ten- days long celebration of GUSBU in the district, a Mega Gram Sabha under the stewardship of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ramban Mohammad Aijaz was organised at Chamalwas here today. DDC inaugurated the Sabha and briefed the gathering with various achievements and benefits of this programme. He focussed on the activities related to socio-economic development of villages, cultural sports and sanitation programmes. On the occasion, DDC also said that four Panchyats- Chamalwas upper, Chamalwas Lower-A, Chamalwas Lower-B and Chaknarwah shall be made free from open-defecation very soon. Among others who were present on the occasion include many district officers, representatives of PRIs, local people, women folks, Self Help Groups, students, ASHA and Anganwadi workers. The officers of various departments enlightened the gathering with flagship schemes of State and Centre benefiting the poor people like NRHM, PMGSY, MGNREGA, Atal Pension Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, Jeevan Jyoti Yojana, Gramin Awas Yojana, Mudra Yojana, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao and Skill Development Schemes. Extensive discussion was also held on Gram Panchayat Development Plans for local economic development, optimum utilization of funds, role of women in village and rural development, clean drinking water and social inclusion of STs, SCs, Disables and other marginalized groups. Later on, students also presented folk songs, skits and poems based on the themes like cleanliness, plantation, physical and mental fitness, proper eating habits, local traditions and customs. |
