Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 25: "Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti's statement that PILs on the Special status for Jammu and Kashmir are creating distrust in Kashmir betrays a sense of insecurity with regard to the legal rationale of Art 370," these were the unanimous views expressed during the meeting of the founding members of the Jammu for India (JFI), held here today.
Prof Hari Om, Convenor of JFI said in the meeting, "the discomfiture of the CM on the public interest litigation on the special status of Jammu and Kashmir only shows the nervousness of the political establishment in the valley. The leaders in Valley know it very well that the special status of Jammu and Kashmir is in contravention with the basic spirit of India Constitution and sooner than later this provision will be struck off as ultra-virus of the Indian constitution." The founding members of Jammu for India resolved to resolutely work for the abolition of Article 370. After expressing their views on the special status of Jammu and Kashmir all the founding members adopted a resolution which stated that all the nationalists in the state hold Maharaja Hari Singh and Shyama Prasad Mookerjee as icons. They also resolved to carry forward the legacy of Maharaja Hari Singh, who had merged Jammu and Kashmir with India to uphold the national cause in the state and defeat the protagonists of Two-Nation Theory and start from where Shyama Prasad Mookerjee left.
"All of us recognise that the state of Jammu and Kashmir became part of India because of the decision of Maharaja Hari Singh to sign the Instrument of Accession and integration of the state with Union of India was given impetus by the peoples' movement for one flag, one constitution and one nation under the leadership of Prem Nath Dogra and Shyama Prasad Mookerjee," said Prof Hari Om.
The founder members were overwhelmed by the response the launch of Jammu for India evoked not only from Jammu province but also from outside including Delhi, Maharashtra and many other states with nationalists assuring JFI of their unstinted support for the cause of Jammu and Indian nation. Those present in the meeting were Dheeraj Pargal, Organizing Secretary, Sushil Pandit, Pushvinder Singh, Dr. Agnishekhar, Devinder Choudhary, Dr. Ajay Chrungoo, Ashok Kumar, Rajesh Dutta, Ajatshatru Singh. S. Rajinder Singh was also present.
