| Out of power, Cong finds faults with Mehbooba-led Govt | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 25: What can be termed as deep discomfiture of a National Party with its local wing miserably failed to show satisfactory performance in the last assembly elections in the state, is indulging into politics of expediency manifesting its uneasiness being now out of power.
Over utterances of Congress President of the State while addressing public meeting at Sonsambil village of Pulwama district dubbing government for exploiting people on agenda of good governance headed by PDP, the political analysts say that Congress, which is habitual of remaining in power but now being out of power, has unleashed a dubious campaign against the recently formed state government under the leadership of Mahbooba Mufti , which is hardly a month's old and indeed still requires time to prove its mettle with regard to good governance, fulfillment of promises held out to public and hence it would be too early to criticize the government, they further add, spelling out that Congress while remaining in power for twelve years in alliance with local political parties could not earn good performance record and incumbency factor contributed tremendously for the debacle of Congress in the last Assembly elections reducing their numbers to twelve in the state assembly throwing it back behind PDP, BJP NC at number four which should be an eyes opener for Congress to seriously focus on reasons proved costlier and undertake sifting introspection to improve its sagging image instead of entering into politics of yelling unhealthy criticism about government needing some more time to exert for betterment of people which the Congress could not do much to woo the masses while in power uninterruptedly for two terms
While analyzing the fronts on which the Congress failed to make good impact during its longest tenure in state govt, it was cited that lackadaisical approach of Congress to accord priority to speed up and complete work of Mubarak Mandi heritage building, cable car project from Peer Kho to Bahu Fort, artificial Tawi lake, making Suchetgarh akin to Wagha border, maintaining and developing new tourists spots are some of the examples to quote in order to assess the extent of good governance provided by the Congress to the people of State, particularly to the people of Jammu which gave it good mandate during elections for two terms from 2002-2014. Taking a dig on query of Congress about deferment of by-polls for Anantnag as a pointer towards loss of popularity of PDP in South Kashmir which is it's strong base , the political experts explain that deferment of by-polls due to security scenario which is based on the in-puts of intelligence agencies responsible for updating the government before taking decision on this account is a temporary measure in the overall interest of people and their safety ,further said, clearing that deferment of by-polls does not mean that election has been cancelled for ever which can take place sooner or later after green signal from authorities responsible for maintaining calm and order in the state.
The analysts observe that the wonders created by Congress during its two innings in the government are close to the chest of public and still fresh in their memories which does not need much elaboration but the fact of the matter which needs attention of all political parties, is that each one should render full cooperation to the present government to take the state towards new height of developments which all parties, whether in power or not, always commit and promise during election campaign. Recapping the history of Congress, the political experts state that being a very old political party of the country, the Congress should demonstrate enough political maturity instead of falling prey to small political bickerings and rather raise issues concerning the larger interests of the public which all parties virtually propagate and promise to do and Congress being in the opposition can better contribute constructively to win the hearts of masses who are prudent enough and politically well aware to keenly watch the performance of all in the arena of politics to teach lesson to politicians when their turn comes as happened in last assembly elections. |
