Jammu, Apr 25: Paving way to get flourishing 'controversial' private drug stores in government run city hospital in Jammu, the State Medical Supply Corporation is supplying unnecessary drug to premier hospitals. Well-placed sources in health department told Early Times, since its inception the corporation remained away from its purposes. "Being premier hospitals in city GMC and associated hospitals cater the patients who come with major diseases", sources said, adding that unfortunately, there no tertiary medicines in hospital. "They (patients) have to purchase medicine from market, despite the fact hundreds of crores of rupees being spent by health department to procure medicine, which being provided to patients free of cost", said a senior doctor, seeking not be named. "Povidine Iodine, Dextrose Sline, Ringer Lactrate, Ceftriaxone and Amoxycillin are relevant drugs among the supply of 30 drugs being done by the corporation", sources said, adding that rest 25 drugs available in the hospital are useless. "Normal Saline, Linzolid-600, Silver Sulphadiazine 500, povidine scrub 7.5%, cetirizine 10, omeprazole, Antacid chewable, Calcium + D3, Frusamide, Paracetamol 650, Rentidine 150, Hydrocartisone, Rentidine-25/1ml, Haemacel, Phyention sodium, ciproflaxcin, metrogyl, amino acid 200ml, ciproflox E/D, Ciproflaxcin-500, Cipro+Tz, Pantoprazole, Inj Pantaprazole, PCM-500 and Diclofnac Sr-100", sources said, these are the drug required in primary care hospital. Sources said that none of the drug provided by corporation has been tested. "The corporation has supplied drugs with proper tests, the hospitals, too without test, required drugs have been providing to the patients", sources said, and added that the negligence of hospitals and corporation could be gauged from the fact that, reactions are taking place in GMC, almost on daily bases. They further said that the management of corporation, even the entire health and medical education department have hands in glove with nexus had run medical stores in hospitals recently. "Department is aware about the mal-practice being carried out by the corporation, but paradoxically, no remedial steps have been taken", the doctor said, and added despite change of guard, patients are at mercy of god. |
