Early Times Report

JAMMU, Apr 25: Notwithstanding the tall claims of the Government of providing basic amenities to Kashmiri migrants the, displaced people putting up at Jagti township are facing the problems due to non availability of medicare facilities. According to sources no attention has been paid by the Government to improve the health care facilities for Kashmiri migrants at Jagti township where the much talked about 40 bedded hospital has been constructed after a long delay of about seven years in October last year but the same sans all facilities.
The doctors have been posted in this hospital but it sans the medicines even the life saving drugs needed during emergencies are not available in this hospital. The patients visiting for check up in the hospital are asked to purchase all medicines from the market as the State Health Department has no budget to run the migrant hospital.
Recently MoS Health Aishya Naqash during her visit to the Hospital was apprised by the Kashmiri migrants of their plight and they complained the lack of facilities in the Hospital.
The Minister on seeking clarification from the authorities of Health Department was informed that the Department has no funds for the migrants as the same come via Relief Organization. The lack of coordination between Relief Organization and Department of Health Services has led to the problem and the hapless Jagti township inmates are put to unnecessary problems.
According to sources no medicines are supplied to Hospital from Health Department nor there is any machinery for examination of patients. Alone doctors or para medical staff can't overcome the problem especially of chronic patients.
Sources said the one X-Ray machine which was purchased form the Hospital was shifted to SDH Akhnoor on the instructions of then minister with the migrants made to suffer.
The lack of coordination between J&K Health Department and Relief organization has to led a lot of confusion. The two departments pass bucks on each other at the peril of the migrants who are facing many hardships due to lack of facilities.
Sources said in case the authorities fail to provide attention to the hospital for its betterment the migrants would be left with no alternative and come to streets in open. There are also no other testing facilities in the hospital despite the fact that equipping this hospital with basic facilities could have helped the authorities to tackle a large number of patients from Jagti and Nagrota side thereby decreasing rush to Medical Colllege Hospital.
