HC’s directive on ' excessive' air fares
4/25/2016 11:05:50 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 25: In a PIL, highlighting the high air fare being charged by airlines from Jammu to other destinations, a high court division bench of Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur today directed director general of civil aviation to file reply on the stand taken by the petitioner in this regard.
The PIL has sought a cap on air fare and make airlines accountable for the delay of flights from Jammu.
The bench, after hearing the petitioner's counsel, observed that objections filed by the director general of civil aviation nowhere mentioned about the stand taken by the petitioner regarding the prime minister's statement, which was reported in Economic Times in its October 30, 2015 issue, stating that the civil aviation ministry would announce India's New Civil Aviation Policy, which had been under discussion for over a year and directed him to file reply with regard to the stand taken by the petitioner.
