SVC goes tough against DCs, others for 'non-disposal' of ‘bribery complaints’
4/27/2016 11:20:02 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 27: Taking a serious note of poor progress of the disposal of corruption related complaints in revenue department, the Atate Cigilance Commission (SVC) has decided to increase accountability by seeking the presence of all Deputy Commissioners and departmental vigilance officers before it.
This decision to this effect was taken by SVC at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Vigilance Commissioner Kuldeep Khoda here today. The meeting was convened to review the progress of complaints, inquires and RDAs pending with different offices of revenue department. Apart from 91 RDAs forwarded by the vigilance organisation, there are 1,831 complaints and inquiries pending with revenue department, according to SVC sources.
While getting brief about the status of cases from Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), SVC observed that officers of revenue department, including DCS, were not serious in disposing of RDAs forwarded to them by Vigilance Organisation and no substantial progress was found made in disposal of complaints and inquiries pending with the department for action. SVC noticed that officers of the department were trying to shield their subordinates in sheer violation of J&K State Vigilance Commission Act and reaffirmed that it would pursue the pendency till action in all the inquiries was taken and chargesheets were served to delinquent officials in RDAs by the Revenue department.
SVC made it clear to the officers of Revenue department that taking help of lame excuses would not free them from their legitimate responsibilities and asked them to reconcile the records with Vigilance Organisation for the early disposal of complaints, inquiries and RDAs.
Expressing dismay over inordinate delay caused in settling complaints, inquiries and RDAs, SVC said that negligence of DCs would be got reflected in their APRs if they failed to act quickly on corruption related matters pending with them.
SVC Commissioners -- Dr R K Jerth and Gous-ul-Nisa, secretary, additional secretary and officers of revenue department attended the meeting.
