'Fresh vegetables' to make the mare go in police deptt
4/27/2016 11:58:37 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 27: Fresh vegetables are being grown in the sprawling lawns of district police lines (DPL) here for their supply to some ministers and senior police and civil officers to keep them in good humour.
By supplying fresh vegetables to ministers and senior police and civil officers, the concerned officer aims at strengthening relations with them so that he can seek favours from them at an opportune moment, according to police sources.
Sources said the officer had ordered cops and other lower ranks to utilise the sprawling lawns and other empty space at DPL for growing vegetables.
Going by the produce, which was expected to be in hundreds of kilograms per day, the select group of ministers and senior officers would be getting fresh vegetables almost daily, the sources added.
Vegetables were being grown at the DPL for the first time, sources said.
The cops had been instructed to take care of the vegetables apart from doing their routine official work.
Sources alleged that the cops had purchased vegetable seeds from the market with their own money.
