| Leaking PHE overhead water tanks waste thousands of gallons | | Department gives a damn | |  Early Times Report
Kathua, Apr 27: People are facing dire shortage of drinking water in entire Kathua town but PHE overhead tank installed in Shiva Nagar continued to overflow wasting Thousands of gallons of water. Regrettably, despite several calls, no official from the department took the compliant seriously.
It is pertinent to mention here that Sham Lal Choudhary ensured sufficient water supply in entire district but at ground level, people are suffering due to scarcity of water and have to use dirty water of ponds resulting in skin infection & diarrhea.
Deepak Sudan, resident of Shiva Nagar said when people noticed water overflowing from the tank at Shiva Nagar, they approached the concerned department but nothing has been done to check the wastage of precious water. He alleged that the sub-standard material had been used in construction of water tank and no renovation work was done since long resulting in leaking of tank.
Darshna Devi a house wife said shortage of water supply has made their life hard but now leaking of tank would create scarcity in days to come due to negligence of the department.
The protesters condemned arrogant and negligent attitude of PHE XEn Sumit Puri and threatened to register a complaint with higher authority against his arrogant behavior. They demanded repaired of the tank at earliest to check the wastage of water. |
