Mufti Sayeed is still CM, Aslam Wani Minister on Libraries' website | E-governance in JK , a joke | | Akshay Azad
Early Times Report JAMMU, May 1: If the websites related to Chief Minister's office are any indication, one can easily gauge the pathetic state of affairs of e-governance in state, as outdated and inaccurate information is mocking at the officials responsible. A glance at the website of Chief Minister's Secretariat, one will find the photograph of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who passed away in the month of January, besides the website of Chief Minister Monitoring Cell again the photograph of late Mufti is shown. "The Chief Minister's office is highest in the state but outdated information on the website, only signals towards the utter disregard shown by the officials responsible for maintaining the websites and the pathetic e-governance", an official said, adding that most of the websites of all government departments have been giving outdated and inaccurate information. Another example is the website of Department of Libraries and Research, which has been showing the photograph of Aslam Wani, former Minister of National Conference government. "After more than one year since PDP-BJP has taken reins of state but no one bothers to update the information", an official said, adding that the issue was earlier also raised but nothing happened. Moreover, most of the websites of department have been showing outdated information as many officials have been transferred from one department to other, but their names remained on the previous depa-rtment's websites. The orders, circulars and notifications are not updated by most of the department, creating problems for general masses. The website of Libraries and Research has been showing notifications and orders of 2014 and rest of other information on website is also outdated. The website of Public Works Department (PWD) has left the space for names of Minister and Minister of State (MOS) blank as the officials responsible didn't get time to paste the names. "On one hand Narender Modi led Union government has been emphasizing on e-governance and digital India campaign but in J&K, where internet connectivity is available, despite then outdated information is given, which is very unfortunate", Raman Sharma said, adding that due to failure to update information, the burden of RTI was also increasing due to failure to voluntarily exposure of information for public. |
