Early Times Report

Jammu, May 1: The ray of hope kindled during the Governor rule amongst the unemployed Bachelors of Dental Surgeon languishing for employment since 2008 who have been victimized by the successive governments, has been snubbed yet again by the incumbent Government.
Sources told Early Times that after 2008, the government did not advertise the post for BDS to accommodate unemployed youths in the government jobs, with the result, the number of unemployed BDS continued to swell in thousands puncturing the tall claims made by government from time to time to remove unemployment.
"After the fall of the popular government due to sad demise of the then Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in the month of January 2016, the Governor took serious cognizance of the burning issue of unemployed BDS who have been struggling hard for their absorption in Government jobs, and strictly directed the concerned administrative department to look into matter and ensure their absorption by advertising posts in phased manner," they said.
They further said that with new dispensation taking over, the issue which was put up by the Governor was set aside by the new government and left this lot in a quandary and put them into mental stress as nothing has been done so far to further accelerate the process.
"Every year around 300 seats are filled for the training of Bachelor of Dental Surgery and same numbers of students pass out after undergoing rigorous training in the institutions but they are meted out with step motherly treatment from the state government by not absorbing them in jobs," they alleged.
They further said that there are umpteen qualified BDS which are without job for the last eight years. Although like MBBS doctors, these BDS doctors too have to qualify the entrance test which is conducted by Competent Authority of Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) and subsequently qualified aspirants are allotted colleges as per merits.
Despite knowing that fact that there is great dearth of doctors in the Primary Health Centers across the state where this lot can be absorbed so that they can provide succor to the patients having dental ailments and can contribute a lot for making the healthy society.
