SVC orders action against encroachers, revenue officials | Encroachment of 80 kanals of state land at Khanna Chargal | | Early Times Report Srinagar, May 23: The state vigilance commission (SVC) has ordered for stern legal action against those involved in the encroachment of 80 kanals of state land at Khanna Chargal in Jammu district. It also recommended departmental action against the officials of revenue department, who had facilitated encroachers in grabbing the government property, besides directing the assistant commissioner, revenue (ACR), Jammu, to submit Action Taken Report to the Commission by May 26, 2016. This decision was taken in a SVC meeting held here under the chairmanship of chief vigilance commissioner while examining the report of deputy commissioner, Jammu, in a land encroachment complaint received by the commission. Earlier, the commission had received a complaint in which it was alleged that one Om Prakash and his sons had encroached on state land and fraudulently managed false entries in revenue records with active support of a local patwari. The complainant also alleged that Om Prakash used to harass and threaten locals for raising voice against the alleged encroachment. SVC had directed DC, Jammu, to get the matter investigated thoroughly and submit it the findings so that the accused were identified for legal action. The report submitted by DC prima-facie revealed that land bearing khasra No 615 at Khanna Chargal and measuring about 821 kanals was state land classified as gair mumkin khad. The report said that out of 821 kanals, the patwari concerned fraudulently and dishonestly made entries of 65 kanals of state land in favour of Omkishwar and Omeshwar, both sons of Om Prakash, and 15 kanals in favour of one Mohammad Razak in 2004. However, the land was restored to the state by expunging the false entries from the girdawari register last year, the report said. |
