Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 21: In what made the position of Congress leaders from J&K awkward, a couple of Kashmir based politicians pointed fingers at the party as equally being responsible for the mess and present unrest in Kashmir in front of the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi at New Delhi today. They said even as the party is in opposition at present, it cannot escape the larger blame of certain political lapses and gaps it made while it was in power both at Centre and state with regard to J&K.
Sources said as the delegation of opposition led by Omar Abdullah decided to meet Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today, GH Mir who was a minister in NC-Congress regime and Hakim Mohammad Yasin, also a former minister and PDF president emphatically asserted that it is imperative for all parties and leaders of stature to understand that Kashmir issue is a political problem and its solution cannot be measured with administrative steps. While the duo discussed all nuances of present unrest in Valley, they were blunt enough to accuse the Congress for imbroglio in present unrest, sources said the two Kashmir based politicians minced no words in conveying Congress was equally responsible for all the political mess in the state.
Sources further said while Mir, who was with the Congress in the previous NC-Congress regime referred to Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru's era when he took the matter to UN. Yasin while attributing the lapses and delays in political solution to Kashmir issue to Congress said the party failed to honour and implement all the agreements right from Sheikh -Indira accord to the creation of Working Groups and its recommendations in recent years. What happened to the Review Committee which was set up after Sheikh Indira accord to review the constitutional provisions that could have guaranteed 'autonomy' to the state, Yasin is learnt to have asked the Congress VP. While Yasin and GH Mir were vocal in raising fingers at Congress, CPI leader MY Tarigami did not express himself so openly, rather chose reticence on that issue, sources further said.
Sources said while the NC members who including the working president Omar Abdullah were in good great numbers than any other party, trained their guns towards rival PDP for present situation while as Congress leaders from J&K blamed its rival BJP for most of the lapses in controlling the present situation in Valley. The opposition delegation which is camping in national capital for the last two days is now scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narender Modi tomorrow to discuss Kashmir situation.
