Additional SF rushed to strictly impose curfew, restrictions even during nights in Kashmir
8/21/2016 11:06:22 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Aug 21: Life remained crippled for the 44th consecutive day today due to curfew and restrictions imposed by the authorities and strike called by separatists in protest against the killing of 66 civilians and injuries to more than 5000 others in security force firing and other actions in Kashmir valley since July 9, a day after Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander Burhan Wani and two other militants were killed in an encounter in Anantnag. Central Paramilitary forces, relieved from Amarnath yatra duty, have been rushed to different parts of Kashmir valley to strictly implement curfew and restrictions under Section 144 CrPC particularly during night, when shops and some business establishments used to reopen and people used to purchase essentials following relaxation by separatists in strike from 1800 hrs to 0600 hrs everyday. "For the past 72 hours we are under continuous curfew restrictions following which we are facing acute shortage of essentials, particularly milk, vegetables and bread besides baby milk and medicines as security forces are now allowing anyone to come out of their homes," residents of different parts of the city alleged.
Earlier, security forces used to withdraw everyday shortly before sunset only to return the next morning to again impose curfew, the residents of majority areas in the down-town and Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) said, adding people were getting a breathing time to purchase essentials, particularly medicine and vegetables during the night. However, now the situation has changed since the past three days. Security forces on day duty are now replaced by another party for night patrolling because of which no shop and business establishment reopens, resulting in shortage of essentials. Both the factions of Hurriyat Conference (HC) and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), spearheading the present agitation since the death of Burhan, have extended the strike till August 25. However, separatists have urged people to do normal business after 1800 hrs till 0600 hrs, the next morning.
