Migrant stay indifferent to Panchayat elections | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 8: There has been no proper response from migrants for Panchayat polls for Kashmir Valley as out of three phases the Assistant Returning Officer only 25 forms. As per data available with election authorities three to four forms were received in first two phases while 21 forms of voters were received for third phase which indicates there is zero response from migrants for participation in Panchayat poll in Valley due to increasing incidents of militant violence. Sources said they are scared by recent killings of Parihar brothers in Kishtwar town of Jammu region. This killing has sent shivers down the spine and both migrant voters as well as candidates who have to visit Kashmir Valley for participation in elections are totally scared and threatened. Sources said moreover there has not been proper ground work from Government side in ensuring proper participation of migrants in poll process. The half hearted approach of the authorities has been the main cause due to which migrants did not take any interest in election process. Sources said due to security reasons migrants participation in Panchayat poll will be equavelent to Zero as compared to ULB elections. |
