To stay relevant, NC, PDP sowing seeds of separatism in Kashmir | Parties upping ante against central Govt as election dates approach nearer | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 1: Kashmir's mainstream political parties seem to have resolved that in order to gain the lost ground, they will make anti-national rants a central theme of their statements and speeches ahead of the forth coming polls. There seems to be a new ideology adopted by both NC as well as the PDP that is focuses on speaking against the central government with full gusto. Both the parties believe that by sowing the seeds of discord and issuing anti-national statements, they could get some relevance among the voters and ask them for votes. Former chief minister and NC's vice President, Omar Abdullah launched a personal attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and called him "insensitive Prime Minister". He said the later was "so much worse" than being an "accidental" one - an allusion to Modi's predecessor Manmohan Singh. "Can't wait for when they make The Insensitive Prime Minister. So much worse than being the accidental one," Omar, tweeted. As per the reports, such remarks made by Omar have come in response to a promo released by the makers of The Accidental Prime Minister, an upcoming film on Singh's tenure in the top job. The film is apparently based on a 2014 memoir, carrying the same title, by Sanjaya Baru, who was Singh's media adviser between 2004 and 2008. On the other hand, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has come out in open defending militants, stone pelters and even proudly stating that she has been telephoning the separatists like Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. She even went to the hinterland where militancy thrives and visited the families of the militants. ""Police and other security forces cannot function outside the ambit of law. That will create more problems than it solves. On the one side, we have been making claims that we want to take youngsters away from violent methods but on the other hand, it seems that the government is doing everything to push them further into this unending cycle of violence," she said soon after visiting the family members of one of the active militant. The party has also adopted a tough approach against its own former ally BJP with a sole objective to regain relevance. Recently, the PDP issued a public statement accusing the BJP of having a unifocal agenda which thrives on hate and promotes tensions and that the party has got unnerved due to the recent political developments in Kashmir's political landscape that unfolded new possibilities and eroded BJP's blackmailing position. "As elections are in the offing, the BJP is making strenuous efforts to polarise the situation in Jammu and Kashmir as the party has nothing to show to its voters on developmental front. However, people are now well aware about the way in which BJP functions and how the party cares least about the national interest and state's integrity while fulfilling its own agendas," the party said in its December 1o statement. |
