Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 3: A high alert has been sounded across Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of intelligence inputs that Pakistan sponsored terrorists would try to carry out terror strikes somewhere around the Independence Day in the Union Territory.
Sources said the Jammu and Kashmir Police chaired a high level meeting of security forces apprising them that Pakistan was desperate to carry out suicide attacks in the Union Territory in the first fortnight of August. Sources said the JKP, the Indian Army and the paramilitary forces like the Central Reserve Police Force have been put on alert.
A three tier security has been put in place at vital installations while the night vigil has been further beefed up in the winter capital in particular.
Sources said the intelligence agencies have inputs that Pakistan has kept the timeframe between August 5, when the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was revoked last year, and the Independence Day on August 15 as the possible days for strikes.
Sources said the intelligence agencies have inputs that terrorists linked to the newly formed terror outfit, The Resistance Front have been assigned the charge of carrying out multiple strikes in the twin capitals of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources said terrorists were desperately looking for a way to sneak into Jammu in particular but that security forces are fully prepared to foil any such possible attempt.
There are also reports that unprovoked shelling by the side of Pakistan may also flare up along the LoC in Kashmir and the international border in Jammu region.
For the last few days there have been regular ceasefire violation in north Kashmir with the Indian Army is giving a befitting reply each time.
Sources said in the garb of shelling the Pakistani forces were trying to push in more foreign terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir.
When contacted a senior official told Early Times that even though there were intelligence inputs the security forces are fully prepared to foil any nefarious design.
