One of the senior most Cabinet Ministers in the government whose declared top most agenda is to weed out corruption from the public life today went home packing after a hot debate on the charges of graft against him.
Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed has also quit as the President of the Pradesh Congress Committee. The Congress of which Peerzada has been president for nearly five years now also has the war against corruption as its top most agenda.

With cases of scams involving certain army personnel apparently up in his mind, Army Chief Gen Deepak Kapoor today said "some instances" of recent past had "brought down the image" of the force which is a matter of concern.
"There have been some instances which have brought down the image of the army in the eyes of the public," the army chief said while talking to reporters on the occasion of Army Day.
He did not elaborate but he was apparently referring to a number of cases of alleged scams involving some army personnel. The cases, which came to light recently, include alleged pilferage of items procured by the army, including tents and eggs.

The suave and handsome Congress legislator Arvinder Singh Micky, who was running for a ministerial berth till the last ministry expansion earlier this month has finally won the consolation prize.
Micky has been elected as the Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council –a post seen lesser in power but higher in protocol. There has not been any Deputy Chairperson in the Legislative Council since long for the lack of consensus among the coalition partners.

A day before the presentation of the last budget of the coalition government, the Finance Minister Tariq Hamid Karra today presented the second economic survey in the legislative assembly.
At the national level since 1958 there is a precedence of present economic survey a day before the budget but Jammu and Kashmir had its first economic survey presented only last year. The Finance Minister also presented in the House action taken report on his budget speech of the current year.
