The government has yet again refused to own the West Pakistan refugees as citizens of Jammu and Kashmir even though a promise has been made for their rehabilitation.
Maintaining that west Pakistani refugees were not state subjects of Jammu and Kashmir despite having settled here five decades ago, the state government today said they were not eligible for grant of permanent resident certificates in the state. Legislators of the Opposition National Conference (NC) and Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today staged a walkout from the state assembly protesting against the incomplete reply by a minister on the land regularisation cases.
