What kept Omar Abdullah’s crown intact?
1/7/2012 12:04:53 AM
Syed Junaid Hashmi JAMMU, Jan 6: More than Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s purported closeness with Congress high command, UPA’s fluctuating fortunes in the centre and divided state Congress prevented ball from swinging other way around. Early Times has credible evidence at hand which confirms that more than JKPCC President’s group; it was ex-Chief Minister’s and presently, Union minister’s coterie of leaders who obliquely ensured continuance of Omar Abdullah regime for next three years. JKPCC president and his group followed directions of Congress high command religiously including the decision to allow Omar to complete six year term. On the contrary, loyalists of ex-Chief Minister would praise Omar in public and more importantly, even leave their senior leaders behind while singing peens in the praise of Chief Minister. However, they would decry functioning of the state government in private and call Omar Abdullah ‘Immature Twitter kid”. These leaders wanted Omar out of office by January 5, 2011 but they had no alternative available with them. Their leaders and Ex-Chief Minis...

1/7/2012 12:01:50 AM
MINCING NO WORDS NEHA JAMMU, Jan 6: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah celebrated the decision of Sonia Gandhi and her loyalists like Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and P Chidambaram to allow him to enjoy state power for another three years by organizing a massive function in the Civil Secretariat. There were reasons for him to celebrate the occasion. For, Sonia Gandhi’s decision had silenced those who were after the Chief Minister and for his replacement with some Congress leader. The government had invited all the legislators belonging both to the ruling coalition and the opposition parties to witness the day of thanks-giving and celebrations. The PDP, which has 21 members in the assembly, ...

Coalition between Congress & NC a “visionary” decision......?
1/7/2012 12:01:34 AM
STARK REALITY RUSTAM JAMMU, Jan 6: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and other ministers belonging both to the NC and Congress party, were very happy yesterday. They were so overwhelmed by the decision of the Congress high command (read Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi) to ignore the demand seeking revival of the 2002 power-sharing formula between the coalition partners and allow Omar Abdullah to lead the coalition government for another three years that they had no words to express his jubilation. They expressed his feelings virtually saying the Congress high command took right decision. “The coalition between two secular parties of National Conference and Congress constituted by the Union le...

Early Times Report Jammu Jan 6- UP Chief Minister Mayawati decides to give marching orders to four corrupt ministers. This has happened without any Lokpal intervention because the UP Chief Minister is keeping her ears close to the ground. Couldn’t the State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah set an example by making an example of some of the corrupt ministers in his cabinet? Couldn’t the Chief Minister, who starts his second three-year term today, at least send out a powerful signal that the laxities of the past would not be tolerated any more? It cannot be said that Omar Abdullah does not know who are the corrupt ministers in his cabinet. For if the Chief Minister embarking on his second thre...
