The last budget session of the present coalition government today took off at a stormy note with the Opposition National Conference holding forte outside the complex and the Panthers Party rocking the House inside.
Meanwhile no business was transacted on the day one of the session as the Speaker adjourned the House for the day even though the opposition members had returned to the House after boycotting the Governor's address.

If for nothing else, the year 2007 in Jammu and Kashmir can well be declared as a year of roads and buildings as expansion remained phenomenal.
At least 365 kilometers of new roads were constructed in different parts of state and a double to this length were further improved by lacktopping, shows the annual report of the government. As the Opposition National Conference preferred to stay away from the Governor's address to the joint sitting of the legislature this morning, the four member brigade of Bhim Singh's Panther's Party stole the show inside the Hall.
As soon as the Governor entered the Central Hall the Panthers Party legislators started fuming and renting slogans against the government. There was quite an interesting scene as all Panthers Party legislators stood at their desks raising slogans.

Despite many top levels administrative positions lying vacant for quite sometime, the government does not appear in any mood to affect a reshuffle in the administration.
In indication in this connection was got today when the Government conferred some additional charges of important positions on two officers instead of making full time postings.
The Commissioner-Secretary to government Cooperative Department Mr. D.K. Nargotra has been asked to hold the charge of the post of Administrative Secretary, Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department in addition to his own duties till further orders.
