SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 30 :“Multi-religious, multi-cultural and multi-lingual character of Jammu and Kashmir State is the epitome of great values of our country”, said Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad on the occasion of distribution of awards to the prominent writers and authors of the state at a function organized by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Language at SKICC here today.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah Member Parliament and ex-Chief Minister, Power Minister Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora, Chairman Public Service Commission Mr. Mohammad Shafi Pandit, Secretary Cultural Academy Dr. Rafiq Masoodi, Additional Secretary Cultural Academy Mr. Zafar Ahmad and other senior officers and heads of departments were present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister announced that in the shape of Kala Kendra Jammu, a similar Kala Kendra will be established in Kashmir. He complimented late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah who was fully conscious of high cultural traditions of the state and during his period cultural exchanges were given due priority.

| J&K Bank seeks RBI nod for hiking FII pie to 40% | | | |
JAMMU | September 30
Jammu & Kashmir Bank (J&K Bank) has applied to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to increase the limit for foreign institutional investors (FIIs) in the bank to 40% from 33%. This follows the board approval to increase the FII investment limit in the bank to 40% from the current level of 33%.
J&K Bank is the banker to the Government of Jammu & Kashmir. As per the existing arrangement between the government and the bank, all the state government department accounts are maintained with J&K Bank.
While the government of Jammu & Kashmir holds 53.17% stake in the bank, FIIs hold 31.39% while public and others hold the remaining 15.44%.

Mumbai Police on Saturday claimed to have cracked the July 11 serial blasts in the city's commuter trains.
Addressing media persons, Mumbai Police Commissioner A N Roy said Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence was the 'mastermind' behind the terror attacks carried out by Lashkar-e-Tayiba with help from Students of Islamic Movement of India activists.
Out of the 15 people arrested in connection with the blasts the 'direct role' of 12 people has been established, he said, adding that out of them, 11 are Pakistanis, who arrived in India in batches.
