Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 23 As already expected, the Congress veteran Yashpal Sharma today came open to express his anger as he filed his nomination papers for the assembly by-elections as independent candidate against the official nominee of the party. Sharma was accompanied by hundreds of his supporters when he filed nomination papers before the Returning officer in Poonch. With his filing of nomination papers, the Congress party comes face-to-face with the first organizational failure in keeping its flock together. Besides Sharma, nine other candidates today filed their nomination papers for the by-elections to Poonch assembly constituency. Raising tempo of the electioneering, Ajaz Jaan of the National Conference and Jahangir Mir of the Congress also filed their nomination papers. Among others were Pardeep Sharma of BJP while Satish Kumar Sharma filed papers as his covering candidate. One Janak Singh is from Kissan Mazdoor Party. Iftikhar Ahmed, Shah Mohammad Tantrey and Syed Nissar Hussain Shah have filed their nomination papers as independent candidates. Report...

Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 23 Pakistan has objected to hydel power plants proposed to be set in Jammu and Kashmir although the projects are in compliance of the water treaty signed between the two countries, the Lok Sabha was informed today. "Pakistan has raised objections on Indian power projects being set up Jammu and Kashmir," Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said in a written reply. Under the Indus Water Treaty, 1960 between the two nations, India is required to furnish information in respect of new run-of-river projects and storage projects on Jhelum, Chenab and Indus rivers, he said. Jammu | New Delhi Nov 23 Terror struck today in Uttar Pradesh when militants triggered near-simultaneous blasts in court premises in Varanasi, Faizabad and the state capital killing 14 people, some of them lawyers, and injuring over 60. Six bombs -- three in Varansi, two in Faizabad and one in Lucknow -- some planted on cycles, went off within a span of 15 minutes in the crowded court complexes between 1310 hours and 1325 hours.
