| | Police eat a humble pie as Kashmir stays calm | Peaceful 2011 | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 29: In two days, 2011 shall end. It was relatively calm the fears of the establishment to the contrary notwithstanding. The police expected a repeat of 2009 agitation but Kashmir remained peaceful. A few question arises. How do they know that Kashmir would witness yet another agitation this year? Did police expect an agitation on the basis of intelligence reports? And, if intelligence reports have proved false, can the administration trust the sleuths who cook stories to present a gory picture of Kashmir for petty reasons?
Surprisingly the separatists seemed least bothered about the agitation that the government expected in summer. The Mirwaiz Hurriyat reject...

That agenda envisaged reorganization of the state; three assemblies, one each for Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh; three chief ministers, one each for Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh; separate public service commissions for three regions; separate directorates for three regions; and so on. | | Diversity, Kashmiriat, Corruption, Weak Govt | Jammu & Kashmir in the words of Padgaonkar | | Rustam
Jammu, Dec 29: “The third angle relates to the Pakistan-occupied-Jammu & Kashmir. The Line of Control has divided many families. Both sides have mountains. Gujjars inhabit these areas. Take, for example, Gilgit. The relatives and ancestors of the people of Gilgit lived, and continue to live, in Baluchistan. POJK, which people on other side call Azad Kashmir, doesn't house Kashmiri-speaking people. The population of ethnic Kashmiris in POJK is not even one per cent. We have to take cognizance of this demographic profile of the region also. Because in 1994 the Indian Parliament had adopted a resolution which said the only issue that still remained to be resolved between India and Paki...
