Following allegations of favouritism and nepotism in selections of doctors in the department of Indian System of Medicines (ISM), the Jammu and Kashmir High Court has issued notice to the authorities and said that the select list will now be subject to the outcome of the writ challenging selections process.

CRPF personnel recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) an hour before the scheduled visit of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil to Bhaderwah town of Doda district today.
During the sanitisation operation for the visit, CRPF troops recovered an IED at Daligarh, three kms from Bhaderwah town, an hour before arrival of Gandhi and Patil there to assess the ground situation following heavy snowfall and avalanches in the beginning of this month, they said.

After three days of persistent lobbying for making her point across, an IAS officer has finally got a senior political leader and Member of Parliament booked at the local Police Station.
Sub Divisional Officer RS Pura Mandeep Kour had alleged that the Member of Parliament Tarlok Singh Bajwa of Peoples Democratic Party along with his supporters harassed her and restrained her from discharge of administrative duties. In gesture which carried mere symbolism and hardly any practical utility, the Congress President Sonia Gandhi today had a bird’s eye view of the situation arising out of the snowfall in various areas of Jammu region.
Sonia had to visit some areas of South Kashmir as well but her visit was cut short due to bad weather which hampered the flight movement. Sonia, Patil and a team of home ministry officials wanted to assess the situation in areas affected by heavy snowfall.
