| Visit to J&K: An eye opener, says PoK visitor | | Abhishek and Aijaz Kazmi | | | Jammu , Mar 21—Eye opener : This is how Pakistan occupied Kashmir resident, Tasleema Akhtar defines her recent visit to Jammu and Kashmir, where she is visiting her uncle’s family in Poonch.
While crossing the border there were lot of apprehensions, but every thing has turned out perfect during our visit to Jammu and Kashmir, says Tasleema, with happiness visible in her eyes.
All the stereotypes that were impressed in the minds have been cleansed and the fear has turned into respect for culture of secularism and brotherhood practiced here.
“When coming to India all our relatives told us about the atmosphere of fear and terror pervading in Jammu and Kashmir. The media there is talks about full of atrocities on muslims”, she said adding that what is told there is completely different from the ground realities here in Jammu and Kashmir.
Once back in Pakistan, “ I will tell every one that Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs are living in peace, harmony and share perfect brotherhood in Poonch, Jammu and even in Kashmir”, said Tasleema.

| Pramod Mahajan murder trial begins | | | | MUMBAI: The murder trial of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pramod Mahajan, allegedly killed at point-blank range by brother Pravin, began on Wednesday with the prosecution examining the police officer who had registered the first information report (FIR).
In a crime that stunned the nation, Mahajan was shot in his Worli home in Mumbai on April 22 last year, allegedly by his younger brother after a heated argument. At the end of the argument, Pravin is said to have pulled out his licensed revolver and pumped three bullets into his brother, who died on May 3.

Former Jammu and Kashmir State Congress chief and ex-MP Ayub Khan died at his residence, here today, at the age of 85.
Survived by his wife, a son and three daughters, Khan was a renowned politician of the state who has also served as a minister in the G M Sadiq Government in late 1960s.
Appointed as JKPCC President in 1971, Khan contested and won the Lok Sabha elections in 1989 from Doda-Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency.
The deceased was laid to rest at Gujjar Nagar Grave Yard. Hundreds of people participated in his last rites.

At least half a dozen persons were injured and equal number of houses damaged due to cloud burst in Tral area of district Pulwama, where police claimed to have saved more than 150 villagers.
Giving details of the incident, Dy.SP Tral Mohammed Rashid told News Agency of Kashmir that cloud burst at village Zadiyar Machama, late last night creating a flood like situation in the area.
At least six houses were damaged and six persons, including three women, received injuries in the incident, he said adding, the timely action of the police saved many precious lives.
The entire village was submerged in water due to cloud burst causing partial damage to almost 20 houses.
