Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 9: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Tuesday said that government would continue its efforts to get travel advisories lifted by US and other countries to rope in high-end tourists in the State. “As a tourist State the growth and development of economy in Jammu and Kashmir is largely associated with successful and productive tourist seasons”, he said and expressed the hope that current tourist season will be blooming and highly prolific. Speaking to the members of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) J&K Chapter led by its President Anil Mahajan at a meeting here, the Chief Minister said that trade and tourism are the two significant pillars of economy and these complement each other in their growth. The Chief Minister said that holistic development of local entrepreneurs has been flagged as a priority concerns by the government in its industrial development policy. Sudan: 5 Indian Army Personnel killed by Rebels

New Delhi: Five Indian Army personnel, including a Lt Colonel were killed today and four injured during a UN peacekeeping mission when their 32-member convoy was attacked in Gurmuck in the volatile state of Jonglei, South Sudan. "The convoy, comprising 32 Indian soldiers, was attacked and the casualties included 1 Lt Colonel, 1 Junior Commission Officer and 3 jawans. There were also 4 wounded, of which 1 is of officer level." The attack took place at 0930 hrs local time (12.35 IST). "The Indian casualties, including the injured (together with other local civilian casualties) are being brought by 3 UN helicopters from Jonglei to Juba," official sources said.
