SRINAGAR, JUNE 30
Two foreign militants were among three persons killed and two securitymen injured in Jammu and Kashmir where security forces averted a major tragedy by detecting an IED on Amarnath route and busted a militant hideout.
A five kg IED, planted by militants near the main gate of the Degree College, Anantnag, on the busy Khannabal-Pahalgam road being used by pilgrims for Amarnath, was detected by police today, Additional Superintendent of Police, Anantnag, Javeed Ahmed Matto told said.
He said the IED, kept in a tiffin box, was later defused before it could cause any loss of life.
Matto said the preliminary investigations revealed that it was the handiwork of the pro-Pakistan Hizbul Mujahideen outfit.
He said the road is being used by the pilgrims bound for Amarnath. A case has been registered in police station Anantnag.
Amarnath yatra could not commence today due to bad weather and was deferred till July 2.

SRINAGAR, JUNE 30 The Amarnath Yatra, which was scheduled to begin today, remained suspended due to incessant rains and could be resumed Sunday after reviewing the weather conditions, spokesman of Sri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) said today.
Pilgrims, who were supposed to start the yatra today and are stationed at Jammu, were not allowed to proceed to Pahalgam due to bad weather, he said.
Governor Lt Gen (retd) S K Sinha, who is Chairman of the board, also could not go to the cave shrine for the "Pratham Puja" (prayer for the commencement of the yatra).

An Army man posted in Jammu and Kashmir has been arrested here on charges of spying for Pakistan's ISI, with police claiming to have recovered "sensitive" defence-related documents from him.
Mohammad Naeem, a Lance Naik with the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry, was in the capital to "hand over" the documents to an ISI agent when he was nabbed by Special Cell officials on the basis of a tip off, police said.
