The police personnel who are considered the protectors of law have in many cases by passed their normal duties and ‘connived with the criminals especially the land grabbers’.
The sources said that several police officers with the help of some ‘criminals’ have succeeded in grabbing the land and thus causing loss of crores of rupees to the state exchequer.
Many police officers are reportedly involved in land grabbing in the city and have encroached upon vast land in the city and its outer areas including Bathindi, Narwal, Channi, Trikuta Nagar, Greater Kailash, Saink Colony, Gandhi Nagar and some other places.
They have adopted a novel method of encroachment. They first choose the disputed land and then encroach upon it by misusing their official position. The alleged nexus between the Director Distance Education (DDE) and in-charge librarian of Central Library of Jammu University has come to surface and repots about misusing of fee collected on the name of state level eligibility test running in several lakhs of rupees has been unearthed.
The nexus between the duo has created an anarchy in the University of Jammu and the deserving ones are suffering due to this nexus.

Former MP, Dharam Pal Sharma in his address at the convention said that the grass-root level workers were ignored and the higher-ups were not giving ear to their genuine problems. Sitting MP, Lal Singh said whenever a worker tries to contact a minister, he is always unreachable. ‘Mobile phones of the ministers are either switched off or on divert mode’.
