| 6 Valley hospitals asked to shut shops | | | | Srinagar Aug 16: In a significant decision immediate action was ordered to close 6 private hospital/Nursing homes who were not fulfilling Pollution Control Board’s guidelines. These nursing homes include St. Joseph Hospital Baramulla, M.M. Hospital New Colony Sopore, Dr. G. N. Geelani Hospital Manasbal, Rattan Rani Hospital Barbarshah, Alshafa Hospital Chini Chowk Anantnag and City Hospital Achabal Anantnag.
This decision was taken at House Committee meeting on Environment regarding improvement in and around government and private hospitals, held under the chairmanship of Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar here today.

| | | | NON-PERFORMERS BEING SIDELINED | | Govt to make panel of efficient officers for key positions | | | Jammu, Aug 16: Taking serious note of the inordinate delay in preparation of project reports for various ambitious infrastructure development schemes, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has sought a record sheet of the officers to choose among them for handling important positions and projects.
When asked, a senior officer told EARLY TIMES that the executive record sheet will help identify the right kind of stuff for the important positions in administration and also in handling the key projects. After keenly monitoring the past performance of the officers the government will make a panel of them so that out this lot postings can be made on the key positions, said the officer.

| | | | Miwaiz kin among 96 cross LoC | | | | Jammu, Aug 16: Including a relative of Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a total of 96 passengers today crossed the LoC at 'aman sethu' (peace bridge) in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir as the fortnightly bus service between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, plied as per schedule.
While 43 passengers, including 22 POK residents crossed over to the other side at Kaman post, 53 others arrived from across the LoC, the sources said.
Those who came from across the border included 31 Kashmiris who had gone to POK to meet their relatives, the sources said.

| | | | No early response to troop cut likely | | | | Jammu, Aug 16: Even though the Peoples Democratic Party is pinning high hopes on the decision of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on troop reduction, the Union Minister of State for Home Sriprkash Jaiswal on Monday told Parliament that the government is yet to receive report of the expert level committee.
Jaiswal said that the Committee constituted under the chairmanship of the Defence Secretary to examine the overall situation and security forces deployment in J&K State has not yet submitted its report to the Government. He said that Committee would also conduct a parallel exercise to review the application of the Armed Forces (J&K) Special Powers Act 1990 to different areas of J&K.
