Jammu, Aug 16: The ruling National Conference has done it again. The party which has a wide base in Kashmir has not stopped stirring the political waters with its ever controversial remarks and comments on holy Amarnath pilgrimage, no matter it amounts to exposing its 'real face' only on the sensitive issue which concerns faith of one entire community of the country. And this time it was once again no less prestigious forum than the Parliament where it opposed tooth and nail of any move to grant extension to the pilgrimage. Party's MP Ghulam Nabi Rattanpuri echoed concern in the Rajya Sabha two days back over what he brazenly said the annual Yatra was responsible for increasing pollution in the area and adjacent localities. On political note the NC MP lashed out at BJP with many accusations. The latter has, however, yet to react to what he stated in the House.

Jammu, Aug 16: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has now formally conceded the point that he will not be able to convince the Centre on his long standing- even pestering-demand of partial lifting of AFSPA from some 'peaceful' districts of the State.
In his Independence Day message, Omar Abdullah didn't make a mention of it. He even didn't say that Government is making efforts to lift some of the Act.

srinagar, Aug 16: Over 30,000 people infected with Tuberculosis (TB) have been detected in Kashmir, in last seven years, official sources said.
Last year alone, 871 new cases of TB were found in Kashmir division including Leh and Kargil. "Out of 283184 free of cost sputum examinations conducted since2004 till December 2011 in Kashmir Division including Ladakh at Government Designated Microscopic Centres (DMCs), 30358 TB patients have been detected in Kashmir Division," well placed official sources revealed.

Jammu, Aug 16: In the 8th ceasefire violation, Pakistani Rangers reportedly opened fire in R S Pura Sector along the International Border in Jammu today late evening, sources said adding that a Border Security Force personnel was killed in the Pak firing.
Unprovoked firing by Pakistan rangers started at around 7.30pm and was on intermittently, the officer said, adding that BSF troops guarding the borderline replied back. They said that Pakistan started firing at around 1930 hrs adding, ''BSF also retaliated. One BSF jawan, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, got seriously injured and succumbed later."
