Jammu, August 04 : Air force Jawans today rescued five school children who were trapped in Devik Nallah due to flash flood in Maltian Kolla area of Birpur Mandal of Samba, Jammu. Informed sources said that at least five school children were trapped in Devik Nallah at Maltian Kolla area of Birpur Mandal after there was flash flood in Ujj Nallah passing through the school. The local residents informed police about the trapping of the school children in Devik Nallah, who immediately sought the services of Air force for rescuing the children and operation was launched. The students were later air lifted by the choppers of Air force to safer places thus the lives of these students were saved. The children were later identified as Ashwani Kumar S/O Kuldeep Raj, Vivek Sharma S/O Dharam Chand Dewaraka S/O Reshi Ram, Girdhari S/O Bholla Ram and Balvinder Kumar S/O Bindervan all students of Government Middle School Maltian Kolla, Birpur Mandal. Jammu, August 04: One soldier and one militant were killed in a fierce gun battle at Doda early this morning. Four soldiers were also injured in a 10 hour encounter. Police sources said that on a tip off a joint team of army and police cordoned off a house in Wani Mohalla in Gondna for flushing out a group of militants hiding in the house.
