Srinagar, Sept 19: Floods devastating Kashmir has hit the election season as political activities have come to a grinding halt. There are rumours that elections may be postponed in JK and Governor's rule is in offing.
Just before floods inundated Kashmir, political activities were in full swing. Soon after Kashmir got submerged politicians disappeared fled from the Valley. Most of them, according to the media reports, had taken refuge in New Delhi and other states. The state's top brass, according to the sources, were "enjoying" at hotel Grand Palace.
Sources told Early Times that Centre is monitoring the situation and it may impose Governor's rule in Jammu and Kashmir soon after the term of the present dispensation led by National Conference ends.

JAMMU, Sept 19: On Wednesday, Om Parkash Sharma and Swarna Sharma returned Jammu safely from flood ravaged valley but they are still registered as missing in the official records of state government, exposing lack of coordination amongst different agencies.
The Jammu and Kashmir state government has set up a helpline center with its office at Divisional Commissioner Office Jammu under the name, "J&K Connect Center 24x7, Dedicated Helpline to Trace the Missing Persons in Recent Floods", and in the last five days a total of 282 persons have registered their calls but if the date of missing persons will be verified there might be lot of discrepancies in the record and reality.

SRINAGAR, Sept 19: It is to be noted that while almost the entire state machinery is missing after the floods hit Srinagar, the Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) was among the first departments to respond to the emergency situation. On September 15, when two ONGC high-power pumps were flown to Srinagar, there was no official of the Irrigation and Flood Control Department to receive them. It was the ERA officials who responded to the distress call of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
