JKVM claims its stand vindicated over ducked Apex Committee | | | Early TIMES REPORT Jammu, Sept 19: Expressing its dismay over the outcome of the recently held Apex Committee meeting at Srinagar, the Jammu Kashmir Vichar Manch (JKVM) today termed it that outcome of meeting has vindicated its stand that said committee has failed to take up issues of displaced community. In a meeting held to take stock of the problems of the displaced Kashmiris and the government response to it, JKVM leadership expressed its total dismay over the outcome of the recently held apex committee meeting at Srinagar. The meeting presided over by State President B L Bhat and attended by the National Vice-president Dr R L Bhat, National General Secretary H L Bhat and its executive members observed that as JKVM had already predicted, the recent meeting of the Apex has turned out to be yet another exercise in futility. Trying to quell the fears expressed by Vichar Manch, the government agencies had come out with a long list of agenda, misleading the displaced community with another round of false hopes. Speaking at the meeting Dr R L Bhat said that, that is what JKVM has been pointing to since the beginning. "The apex has become a tool to distract the attention of the displaced community and the meetings are held to dupe the press, people and even central government, into thinking that attention, at the highest level, is being paid to their problems, JKVM leaders added. JKVM meeting questioned why does the state government which spends seventy to eighty thousand crores of rupees, and thousands in the SRE, run to the central government for sanction of a simple increase of the relief. Elaborating further the spokesperson of JKVM said, that the unfortunate fact is that the government has been trying to shift its responsibility vis-à-vis the Kashmiri Hindus, to the union government. "The Apex meeting achieved nothing except giving the favoured members of the apex a paid holiday in Kashmir, the JKVM stated |
