In J&K armed guards are provided to separatists to preach secession | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 19: Kashmiri separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq inaugurated a seminar on the alleged human right violations in Geneva (Switzerland) the other day while using an Indian passport to reach there. More than two dozen armed guards have been placed for the security of this separatist leader who are both static and mobile, guarding his residence and also moving around with him as he visits places to tarnish the country's image and preach secession. It has become fashionable for the pampered Kashmiri separatist leaders to use all the privileges from the State Government and also wage campaigns against the country. Another separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani also enjoys armed guards provided to him by the State Government so that he can move around conveniently campaigning against the sovereignty and integrity of the country. A serious debate has started in the State as to who is the State Government trying to guard these separatist leaders from? Is it the intention of the State security agencies to guard these separatist leaders from the militants? Is it the intention of the State security agencies to provide guards to these separatist ideologues so that their stature and importance is raised both internally and externally? Both these separatist leaders are on record a number of times asserting that they are not threatened at all from the militants. In contrast, both Geelani and Umar Farooq have said they fear the security forces. Is the State Government trying to protect these separatist leaders from its own security forces if the separatist perception is right? Huge amounts of money are spent on the security of these separatists and the security agencies owe the people of the State and the rest of the country a serious explanation as to why armed guards are provided to the separatists at the cost of the exchequer? Without agreeing to be quoted publicly, some senior security officials say that the armed guards are provided to the separatist leaders on their own requests wherein these leaders have expressed fears of being harmed by the militants. The withholding of this information from the public, if it is true, is a serious matter fro which the State Government owes another explanation. Ours must be the only place in the World where armed guards appointed by the State stand duty to protect separatist leaders who seek secession of the State from the rest of the country. There is an acronym wherein weak countries are called Banana Republics. It is the belief of every citizen of India that ours is not a Banana Republic, but ironically even in such spineless countries also no armed guards are provided by the State to protect those who not only dispute the integrity of the country, but also show extreme disrespect to the country's national flag and sovereignty. |
