Police to seek help of IT experts to scrutinize his e-mails | Mehraj's election card genuine | | Asif Iqbal Naik Kishtwar, Sept 19: One week of interrogation of suspected ISI agent, Mehraj-ud-Din alias Javed has given tough moments to the interrogators. They call him a hard nut. According to the sources, Mehraj has confessed about his links with ISI and underworld Don Dawood Ibrahim. He also confessed his involvement in January 22, 2002 attack on US Information Center in Kolkata killing five people. Besides this he also revealed that ISI had plans to target the 2003 SAARC summit at Nepal. The sources said Jammu and Kashmir police will seek the help of IT experts to scrutinize the emails exchanged by the accused with top militant commanders of various militant organizations in Pakistan and Dawood Ibrahim aides in Gulf countries. They said though Mehraj did never pass Primary School, but speaks fluent English. The sources said that he exchanged vital information through e-mails and remained in constant touch with his mentors in Pakistan through internet. They said that scrutiny of e-mails exchanged between him and ISI officials can provide vital information about ill designs of ISI and underworld towards India. They added that the Nepali and Delhi SIM cards recovered from his possession were issued on fake documents. "Efforts are on to trace out the details of mobile numbers who have been in constant touch with accused during his stay in India from time to time", they said. The sources said that the call details pertaining to the Nepali SIM card recovered from Mehraj-ud-Din are still awaited. Meanwhile, the election card recovered from him has been found to be genuine. The sources said his family helped him making Voter Election Identity Card in the year 2000. "The family managed successful enrolment of Mehraj-ud-Din's name in electoral list despite his absence", they said. The issuance of Election Voter Card requires personal verification. "Issuing of Election Voter Card to Mehraj-ud-Din not only puts a question mark on Election Authorities, but questions were also raised on Sopore police for their failure to keep an update of his activities",they said. The sources said that Mehraj-ud-Din during his sustained interrogation gave vital information about many fugitives wanted by police in different terror cases in many states in India. The sources said that Mehraj-ud-Din also gave information about suspects wanted in 1993 Mumbai serial blast case. The sources said that questioning of various ISI agents presently lodged in various jails across India is still going on. They said after confessing about his link with 2002 attack on US Information Center in Kolkata, the investigating agencies will question Aftab Ahmed Ansari and Jamil-ud-Din Nasir presently facing death penalty for their involvement in the said attack in which 5 police personals were killed. Session Court in Kolkata in April 2005 held Aftab and Nasir along with three others guilty for attack on US Information Center, the sentence which was held by Kolkata High Court. Ansari who with the help of Mehraj-ud-Din escaped to Gulf and was later arrested by the Kolkata police from Dubai and thereafter, he was deported to India to face the trial. |
