In J&K police, there's always room at 'top' even for those switching sides swiftly | | | Bharat Bhushan JAMMU, Sept 19: The one-time PDP loyalist police officers are now swearing loyality to NC-Congress regime. Those, who were benefitted a lot when PDP-led Government was in power in the State, now don't hesitate to say that they were actually a "victimised" lot. These officers have a track record of switching loyalities. When NC lost power in the State and PDP formed Government with the Congress support, they were the first to knock at the doors of PDP cadres who had an easy access to the corridors of power. To get plum postings, some even went to the extent of assailing NC policies in public conversations. But now when PDP is out of power, they are back to NC "fold". Almost all of them are at present holding coveted positions. One of them called on a NC leader a few days back and throughout his conversation with him, he accused PDP of having victimised him for one reason, or the other. Needless to say, this officer held important positions in Jammu region during the PDP-Congress regime. He still is in good books of few in the Government. Another is a very high-profile officer. Though labelled as a NC man, he had found a unique way of sneaking into the PDP camp. He befriended a woman leader and made her his partner in real estate business. According to sources in CID wing of the State police, the shared ambition of making easy money has kept them united even today. This officer owned a number of residential plots in the city's developing colonies. During the PDP-led alliance and now in the NC-led Government, he has very efficiently managed to remain close to those who matter in the power corridors. This senior Police Officer when PDP came into power was too considered to be very close to this woman leader got privileged postings within the city limits. In a distinguished example such top cops virtually indicate that there's always room at 'top' even for those switching sides swiftly. A quick peep into their service track records shows that all these officers have developed the art of dealing with politicians. So, even if a particular party was out of power, they would continue to enjoy "power". |
