The shifting has been effected after 16 days of his arrest. Sources said that Mehraj who is presently on 9 day police remand in connection with fresh FIR registered against him at police station Chatroo will undergo scientific test/interrogation in order to extract more information from him regarding ISI module working in India. They said that the accused during questioning revealed bulk of information pertaining to ISI and underworld setup in India, Nepal, Gulf and Pakistan, but said that intelligence sleuths are hopeful of extracting some solid information pertaining to plans of ISI and underworld terror plan. The sources said that in wake of close ties of accused with top intelligence officers, the investigating agencies suspect that ISI might have succeeded in penetrating deep inside Indian intelligence setup by winning the hearts of few intelligence officers in lieu of money. The sources said that Mehraj's interrogation is vital as far as preparing the defence strategy to counter Pak sponsored ISI terror is concerned. They added that the details will be shared with top Government officials in Union Home and External Affairs Ministries so that proper initiative could be taken. It is worth mentioning that Mehraj was shifted to police station Chatroo a day before he was cross examined with Hizb hawala operative Tanveer Ahmed Genoo and his father arrested by Chatroo police nearly 7 weeks ago in connection with transaction of Rs. 3 lakh hawala money meant for Hizb Commander Mohammad Amin Butt alias Jehangir Saroori. The sources said that investigation conducted by the Chatroo police finds no hand of Mehraj-ud-Din in hawala transaction case involving Tanveer Genoo and his father. |
