| ‘Natwar Lal’ of Kishtwar lands in jail | | | early times report Kishtwar, Oct 4: Tightening his grip against the habitual criminals, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Kishtwar Rajesh Kumar Shavan who is also Additional District Magistrate has booked a cheat under sections 110, 112 and 117 CrPC. The habitual cheat has been identified as 38 year old Sajad Ahmed Najar son of late Abdul Gaffar Najar resident of Jamia Masjid Mohalla, Kishtwar. Sajad Ahmed Najar is commonly known as "Natwar Lal of Kishtwar" for his activities. The cheat decamped with Rs 11 lakh by promising one Ashiq Hussain son of Abdul Qayoom resident of Gandoh at present Kishtwar to provide him the government job as Sub Inspector in police department. He had also promised him Naag Mani for bringing good fortune and huge wealth to him. Ashiq took loan from JK Bank and his acquaintances to raise Rs 11 lakh. He was told to keep mum or face the consequences. However, after coming to know that innocent persons have been cheated the police swung into action and produced the cheat before the ACR. The Additional District Magistrate after hearing witnesses & taking evidence booked the cheat as habitual offender under section 110, 112 and117 CrPC and detained the accused in Police Station Kishtwar. The efforts for recovery of money have also been initiated. The accused during hearing before the ADM Kishtwar agreed to return the money fraudulently taken from the complainant. However, during enquiry it came to the fore that the cheat was a notorious offender & has many times in past cheated various persons by posing as Dy. SP, Sub Inspector or even MLA Kishtwar. In one case he extorted Rs. 2.5 lakhs from one employee of CAPD posing as Inspector of CID and later on FIR No:- 115/2011 under section 392/458 RPC and 3/25 A Act was registered against him at police station Kishtwar and he was arrested, but was later enlarged on bail. The name of other three persons including one SPO has also figured out in the case that helped the cheat to execute his plan and dupe the innocents from their hard earned money. The investigation of the case is still going on and more arrests are likely in coming days. The ADM had also written official letter to police to submit details of cases registered against the accused in other police stations including Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban and Udhampur districts as during preliminary questioning and cross examination of witnesses, it come to the fore that accused Sajjad Ahmed Najar is a part of major crime nexus in Kishtwar District and its adjoining Districts and requires thorough probe by competent police officer. The case will come up again for hearing before the court of ADM Kishtwar tomorrow. |
