Relief Organization flouted norms in making allotments at Jagti
10/26/2012 12:40:39 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 25: It was alleged earlier that the Relief Organization has made allotments in favour of Kashmiri Migrants at Jagti to most undeserved families and without adopting any norms and following any transparent procedures.
Migrants not satisfied with the list notified held demonstration continuously for a month and later on approached the High Court through number of writ petitions and the court after perusing the documents ordered for maintaining the status quo. For the last so many months after the list was notified no actions seems to have been taken either in handling over the possession to deserving families or in getting the stay order vacated.
Whenever the Relief Commissioner was asked to justify or defend the allegations of corruption and favouritism in making the allotments he always maintained that list is fair and genuine families have been considered.
surprisingly under the garb of this category Government employees, pensioners and business men have been selected. As per the list provided by Relief Organization in response to a RTI application more than 25 families belong to Government employee category and around 70 families are under pensioners category. In the reply there is no mention of around 60 families as to which category they belong. No information has been provided about their status of registration. Are these families registered and if they are registered under which category they belong. Whether they are registered as Government employees or other wise.
Another important fact have come to the notice of the public is that most of the families who figure in the list had never applied for the flats at Jagti when applications were invited after giving publicity through media.
Will the department reconsider the whole issue a fresh and order a verification of all the applications which have been received by the Relief Organization in a transparent way and subsequently make allotments to genuine families or they will continue to support the fraudulent lit which is subjudice. In case the Relief Organization goes for fresh verification in that case the court case will also become anfractuous and migrants will also feel satisfied.
The delay in taking any decision by the department is only helping such people who don't deserve to be given preference. Due to wrong action of the Relief Commissioner and his stooges working in his office in selecting undeserving families for allotment genuine people are suffering and also denied their rights. Already it was exposed through media that 50 families included in the list from Police Colony Channi were not living in the Colony but had been included due to connivance of certain officers of Relief Organization. The list of such families has already been withheld after the genuine exposure but such people are waiting to expose the persons responsible for such action.
