JAMMU, Oct 25: A reputed public school in the town has been allegedly brazenly violating all the government rules and regulations alongside running without government permission/ recognition.
Sources said that the said school has been fleecing parents of the students. This startling revelations came to forefront through an RTI query, the information seeker filed RTI to the office of Director of School Education seeking information about the school and in reply having RTI No DESJ/RT/2012/3578-82, the DSE stated as "the Institute is not recognized upto class 8th however Directorate has granted permission to run classes from 6th to 8th till ending 3/2012 only".
The reply came against the question by information seeker who asked DSE whether Banyan Tree School (Banyan International School) has recognized by the said directorate to conduct classes upto middle i.e. 8th standard classes.
It is also reported that school administration changed the name of school after owner of the brand in Delhi filed case in Supreme Court for continued using his school's brand though the agreement in this connection has been dissolved . The court has imposed fine as 20 lakh and 50 thousand to the new Delhi based trust. It needs to mention here that the Court also had issued summon against the reputed school in question which was earlier running on the name and style of Banyan Tree School for court of contempt.
As per court CMA order No 170/2012, besides school principal, Commissioner Secretary to Government Education department, Chief Education Officer, Jammu and Chairman the school trust were to be present in personnel on 29.10.2012 for not complying court order.
The summons was issued following the complaint of the parents of the student who pursued his studies in the same school.
Earlier, court also has offered respite to the said aggrieved parents when it directed the school managed to allow their ward to continue his studies after school administration issued Transfer Certificate to him for not depositing his two pending fees reportedly.
Now the question here is also that how the CBSE has got this school affiliated if the school is not recognized. And the issue now has become the talk of the town making many of parents to worry about the future of the wards studying in the said school. Meanwhile, the matter is sub-judice.
